Nice
Time to make one with a new cable ratio! (I’ll probably just get one and run it friction tho!
Is it possible to change the pulleys??
After one year of street riding/dirt jumps/skateparks the clutch skips some teeth and cage bering/bushing have some play :////
I use a 38 tooth on a 12sp 11-51t cassette on a hard tail
I have a 44T on my 1x9 with 11-21 cassette. It’s an old Rockhopper. Works perfect for my needs.
Great video! Thank you
Ok, I've been studying gearing as an owner of an AdventX, and i think i want an Advent8 like this: 11 14 18 22 27 34 43 54 79% 78% 82% 81% 79% 79% 80% ... 8 speed, 20% jumps, 500% range. This is what i want. I hate granularity that is so fine that I am always double shifting. Who can make this for me? 500% range is important as a minimum for hilly/mountainous areas. Cadence isn't so important for practical non fanatical bicyclists. I also have an 8 speed microshift derailleur, but i don't know the gearing. But i know the range is too limited.
You're mad! Theoretically I like it, but in reality it's going to be very difficult to get gaps that wide to shift smoothly.
@@microSHIFTTECH no, I'm not angry 🙂 and I am very thankful for the added knowledge, and maybe others can learn from it. Actually, I am an aeronautical engineer, so I know little about bicycle engineering, but it peaks my curiosity 😀 I consider myself an average bicyclist. I dislike cars, and only travel on 2 wheels. So, I use a bicycle to travel 120-140 mi/day between cities sometimes, I carry groceries in a milk crate on a rear rack every few days, I must travel through trails in a forest often, and I ride from -5F to 95F. So, I am interested in practical use. I don't own anything made of Lycra or Spandex. And I travel up+down big mountains. So, I am often thinking of how to make bicycles simpler and more effective for practical use. I do think too much is done for a tiny percentage of fanatics, and 99% of bicyclists are not in that category. And I am finding more and more people are wanting to use bicycles for exercise and practical transportation. Cars are a big expense when one considers their total costs. I think MicroShift is a great business that is doing a great + important job, and I advertise them whenever it is proper to do so. I had a question once, and unlike other businesses, I was surprised with a fast and knowledgeable answer. I don't know what the loss to smooth shifting means exactly. I can imagine it, but I can't know how troublesome it would be in reality. Or if it may be corrected in some way by angled teeth on the cogs, or stronger springs in the derailleur, or a mechanism that prevents any change to shifting until something 'snaps' thus initiating a powerful+instant shift (like a pseudo shift that builds up tension which is then released as a powerful+quick shift, like a gun trigger). It's an interesting puzzle to ponder: bicycle gearing 👍 I wish you success. My point is I want more range, less granularity. Figure it out 🙂 that's what engineers are supposed to do: solve problems 😆
Have you guys ever seen an Acolyte shifter have an issue with the trigger button(for upshifting) not spring back after it's pressed in? It's a brand new shifter and it's acting up right away. I have 3 other bikes with the same exact shifter and never a problem like this. Sometimes it will spring back but most times it won't and stays pressed in. It's nothing wrong with any of the other groupset components or anything. I've verified this. Thanks.
Sounds non-standard, I would definitely fill out a service ticket on our website!

Thank you 😅 i just “Rebuild” a Scott cortessa scale 730 for my yunger sister and i was scared that the hub was done for
I'm thinking of upgrading from 40t to 52t with my old 14-34t cogset. How good is it?
Depends on how strong you are I suppose
Is 5mm also good? I think I heard this is the recommendation from different channel-ParkTool

I am in China, where to buy your product?😅
If you can't find it locally, Circles Japan can ship.
海外购物消费昂贵,吾家本贫,何不回国发展市场?大陆有很多人喜欢你们的内走线手变,而且在国内很难找到替补件。 Overseas shopping is expensive.I have a question why don't you develop Chinese market, many like your internal drop bars. Even it is difficult to replacement.
maybe it could sound a stupid question, but it is possible to run a pair if microshift bs-m10 on friction mode to shift a 2x9 speed groupset? now, I know that there are alredy 2x9 dedicated bar end shifters, but for "aesthetic" issues I would like to choose the " black ones"
It will work, but the shifter will not move very much per shift, so it's a little more finicky to get into the correct gear.
My bike came with the classic 34 teeth non-NW in the front and the cheapest Shimano 11-42 megarange 7 speed in the back. Wanted something better so first of all, I ordered the Hollowtech II system with a 36 teeth and wanted the 8 speed 11-32 or 11-34 in the back, but one day i just went "Fпck it" and started riding only the hardest gear cog in the back with the seat all the way down and revoshifter taken off. Yesterday I have finally assembled the new drivetrain with a 30 teeth NW in the front, a singlespeed kit of 13 teeth in the back and a wide singlespeed chain. So yeah, now I'm riding a rigid 27.5 XC bike like a giant BMX and if I get a chance to choose between my stupidly uncanny setup and a proper street bike, I'd take mine! Considering building a dirt jumper as well (just to look like a sane human being and to see if it's any more convenient)
Even i loose b tension screw all the way there is still more than 5-6 mm between the cornet of the cover and largest cog, using m46-l
That's not normal, it sounds like there's something else going on with your setup. I would recommend that you fill out a service ticket on our website and our CS folks can take a look.
I just love clarity in education! And no bs and overly fancy tech language! Advent X is exactly what I’m looking for! Thank you for amazing post
Haha this is too good. Great video
i did this but my tension bolt stripped what should a do?
Fill out a customer service form on our website and we'll see if there's anything we can do to help.
Installing these shifters now and I love everything about them except how difficult the large shift paddle reach adjustment is. I think I stripped the tiny 1.5mm hex head because it's so difficult to access :(
Yeah, the bolt needs to be small because of the location within the shifter, but I get your point that it could be an easier adjustment.
Great video, thanks
When I did everything right and saw there was some play in the cassette, I said to myself that's gotta be normal but I wasn't 100% sure until seeing your explanation, thank you🙂
12 -50T 12s chainring 42T oval
I have one question. While putting cable to the housing and screwing it in, what setting on the barrel should it be? Max clockwise?
For our stuff, max clockwise is usually best. Some Shimano systems recommend that you set it a couple rotations from max clockwise in order to be able to release tension from the system on setup.
@@microSHIFTTECH Thank you for reply. I have last question. I have derailleur from the video. In my case the chain is quite loud on each gear, is it normal? Btw I am using it with 8 gear casette (also microshift which is compatible with this derailleur. I am asking, because on sram gx on different bike (10 gears) its quite in most of the gears (middle)
Man I love Microshift.
And Microshift loves you too
Should I always have my clutch on?
It's designed to always be on while you're riding
I was running a 9 speed Microshift Advent groupset on my BBSHD powered Ebike until I recently destroyed the derailleur on a rock. I've decided to "downgrade" to the Acolyte groupset for 3 reasons of which he mentioned. 1. I don't need 9 speeds on a motor that pushes 1850 watts. 2. 8 speed chains are thicker and last longer before stretching. 3. If I destroy another derailleur it'll be cheaper to replace. Acolyte for the win!!
Help! I have a 46T cog and can only get to about 9mm w/ medium cage. What should I do?
Get in touch with our customer service through our website and send a picture. First thing I would check is chain length. The guide pulley is eccentric, so the more the cage extends forward, the farther it gets away from the cogs. If the chain is too long, the guide pulley would be too close in larger cogs. But, there are other possible causes as well, so the best bet is to reach out to CS.
@@microSHIFTTECH Thanks!
So you're saying I have to buy a whole other cap just to adjust brake reach?
On our 400 series shifters? Yes.
Does advent will work with R9 road shifter used in triban 500?
It does not -- they have different cable pull ratios. Advent requires much longer pull because it uses such wide gear ranges on the rear cassette.
"A little bit better for stealth missions" 😂😂😂 Microshift is the best!
For some reason shifting and setting up a derailleur has been the last thing eluding me as an at home mechanic. This video finally got me there i was able to set up thos drivetrain on a custom 1by10 build ive been working on. Last thing is dialing it in so it shifts onto the largest cog
It's ads like this one, plus the commitment to thumbies and barcons, that've made me a loyal microSHIFT fan.
The smaller these are the easier the climb right ?)
Correct!
it can accommodate 50 tooth cogs? thanks
No, the max cog range is 48t.
I like the style of what I could see on that roadie, would like to see the whole bike.
Why is microshift not available in India ?
No info on Sword clutch maintenance :(
I torque my cassette to 3 ugga duggas
Never had a problem with not enough low gears. Most bikes tend to have 10+ low gears I never use. Always wanting an extra gear on top though.
You must be incredibly strong!
she going for free style stunt
Nice
Very helpful, thanks!
The bike industry hates this simple trick...
Lol
Super helpful. Just the info I needed.
I have the r8 on a triple 3x8 stock Btwin Triban 500. How do I fix the derailleur dropping the chain from the largest to smallest cog? No matter what cable tension, the front derailleur randomly jumps past the middle chainring down to the smallest. Any help is appreciated 👍
If you are having that problem, please fill out a service claim on our website and we will help you out.
